Happy Friday! We found a couple boxes of old slides in storage when cleaning up. Here’s a small gallery of some of them. Leave a comment if you know any of the folks below.

As is tradition at the end of the quarter, the turtle migration in Warren is set to begin! Dating back decades, turtle ottomans are a rite of passage for many Warren 8th graders as an introduction to the construction and industrial arts courses offered by Mr. Janecke in the High School or the CTE Academy.
Students receive a hands-on introduction to woodworking in this 9-week course where they measure, cut wood, stain, assemble, and upholster their turtle footstools. Students get to choose the fabric for their turtle’s shell. This year we have a wide array from the comfortable plaid to the exotic furry pink shell.
Mr. Janecke is but a steward to the terrapin tradition. Dating back decades, the ancient art of turtle building has been handed down by such illustrious former staff members as Mr. Stake and Mr. Kussner who have ushered in generations of hard-shelled hassocks to the surrounding area. Legend has it the blueprints for the turtle design are kept in a secured location known only to the industrial arts teacher.
Residents of Warren, Apple River and Nora anxiously await the migration of the turtles from the school’s shop to their homes whereupon the turtles take up their sacred job as one of the finest resting places for the weary feet of their masters. If you have one of these turtles living with you, we would love to see them. Post a picture in the comments on our facebook page!
Mrs. Harbach’s classes are celebrating Pi Day today. Thank you to Mrs. Harbach and Dr. Sirgany for the treats!
The Dubuque Fighting Saints hockey team have set aside February 24th as Warren Elementary night. Students, families, and friends are able to purchase discounted tickets at $10/ticket with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the school. Contact the school office to purchase your tickets and they will be at will call waiting for you on game day. Parents will have to provide transportation to this event. All students are required to sit with their parents.
On this special night, the 2nd – 5th grade students will be performing the national anthem at the start of the game. Please wear RED to support the Fighting Saints and your Warren Warriors. (We’d say wear orange & black, but the opposing team’s colors are orange & black so we don’t want to discourage our hosts).
Remember, all students MUST be accompanied by an adult at the game. Come out for a fun night of hockey and Warrior/Saint spirit!
We hope to see you there!
