Following up from last week’s email, I wanted to let you know that as a school district we are constantly checking the progress of the Coronavirus. The purpose of this contact is to inform you that the school district is preparing and taking the situation seriously. It is not my intention to add stress to the situation our create hysteria; however, I wanted to let you know what has been communicated to school districts.
We have NOT been recommended to close any schools. We have been recommended to follow the same recommendations sent out last week and take extra cleaning and disinfecting precautions. However, we have been encouraged by the Illinois State Board of Education to create plans in case of exposure to the Coronavirus. Part of that plan includes creating e-plans to continue educating students at home if school were to be closed for an extended period of time. An e-learning plan would use technology (if available) to further educate our students.
The reason that I am sharing this information with you is to allow you as much time to prepare your own plan in case we face this situation. In an effort to gather more information and be better prepared, please mark below if you have a home computer and internet. We hope you appreciate our transparency. We do not intend to alarm anyone; instead, we are trying our best to keep all stakeholders informed of the situation.
Please return the form that was sent home with your student or complete the form here: http://bit.ly/205internet to help us gather this information
