Post Prom Donations & Information

Parents of Junior/Senior students,

These are the exciting times for our students in High School. It’s time to get involved with Prom; please join us at our post prom meetings. Dates and times posted on the Warrior Facebook page, CUSD 205 web page, and all-calls. Meetings lasting an hour and would encourage new ideas to help make Post Prom fun and safe.

Previous meetings discussed donated items for the pop wagon, which include 2-liter pop, Gatorade, or fruit juice. Pop wagon items may be dropped off in the High School Office or St Ann Catholic Church (608 East Railroad Street) Other items for donation are listed for the Turkey Tournament with games running from November 13th through November 22nd, we also need parents and students to work the concession stand.

With 50/50 fading out, our Post Prom team thought of a new raffle idea. Using any amount lottery ticket donated by parents, which in turn will be framed for a raffle at the Turkey Tournament. Raffle tickets may be purchased for $5.00 and the Turkey Tournament (must be 18 years or older). The more lottery tickets donated the larger chances of winning the framed tickets. The tickets may be dropped off at St Ann’s Catholic Church with Monica McGivney (Tuesday – Friday from 8:00am – 4:00pm). Any questions please call Monica cell 815-541-4157, or Jen Pax 815-275-9164

Warren FFA Competes in SOILS contest

The Warren FFA members attended their first Land Use Career Development Event on Pecatonica Road near Winnebago, IL. There were nine schools participating in the Soils Contest where students judged five separate pits that were approximately 25 feet long by 4 feet wide and 6 to 8 feet deep. The objective for the five person team was to determine the soil profile, texture, and structure with land uses for farming as well as housing and septic drainage field.

The Warren FFA varsity team consisted of Bryana W and Catie A (two varsity team members did not attend) and the junior team consisted of the current 8th-Grade Ag-Mini students. The Varsity Team achieved an amazing feat of 8th place with only two people on the team. Imagine what place they could have had with the other members that would have possibly doubled their score? I’m very proud of the ladies who competed. Please congratulate them for their fine accomplishment.

The Junior team consisted of Brianna L, Emilie S, Hunter H, ILayzia W, Maddy G, Matthew R, and Ryan M. Although their scores were not used in the competition, they were able to have a very valuable experience of being in the practice pit and five judging pits. This cannot be reproduced in the classroom and is not something that is readily available to students. This practice prepared them physically and mentally to compete in the future. Illinois FFA is beginning to allow the middle school grades to compete and gain experiences as other states and the National FFA Organization who are already utilizing in the Agriculture Education Programs.

Land Surveyor

Surveyors map out boundaries for construction.

The Land Use CDE is a valuable tool to introduce a variety of careers to students. One in particular is a Surveyor.
