Dear Contestants and parents of contestants,
Here is some information about the “Warren’s Got Talent” Variety Show that your sons/daughters have entered. Regarding informal rehearsals: I have been meeting and practicing with individual groups during free periods, Jr/Sr Chorus class, home rooms, or before and after school. I would like to have a very good handle on the strengths of each act so that staging them for the final rehearsals is not a big surprise.
Final rehearsals – (week of November 2-4)
Please select one day, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and a time from 7-9 PM that would work for you to rehearse your act on stage, so we can set sound and lighting levels, and so that dancers and comedy acts have the opportunity to space themselves out on our stage. These slots will take as little as 10 to as much as 30 min. depending on the nature and category of the act.
On Thursday, November 5:
We will have a full dress rehearsal beginning at 7:00 PM. This is the soonest I can get the stage because of a Jr. High Basketball game, and we will run the show in order. I have set the order for the show according to alternating acts that require full stage as opposed to in front of the main curtain, so the order and age levels vary throughout the show. You may leave as soon as your act has performed, but please do not ask if I can take your child’s act out of order, as this will be the only opportunity that the emcees, and sound/stage and lights crew will have to run the show.
All acts will be kept in the Commons area and will be cued to the stage. Please provide books, activities to keep your child busy and quiet backstage as they wait their turn to come to the stage. Good behavior and quiet backstage is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to not disturb the acts that are performing out front.
On Friday November 6, – the night of the show. Please be in the commons at 6:15PM, so that you can be checked in. I will have a judges meeting at 6:30 PM, so I need to have everyone checked in by that time. At the conclusion of the show, we will gather everyone on stage after the last number (this will be rehearsed on Thursday evening before beginning the run-through of the show) in order to award prizes for each category. The categories and prizes are as follows:
Elementary students: - $50 per act
Middle School students - $50 “
Jr. High School students - $50 “
Sr. High School students - $50 “
Adults - $100 per act.
In the case where age levels are mixed between contestants, the act will be categorized in the lowest age category. (For example – 2 third graders and 1 fourth grader performing in an act together will fall in the Elementary age bracket.)
On the next page, please select and return your choice for your individual performance rehearsal for Monday through Wednesday. You will choose a first choice, and a second choice if I am unable to accommodate your first choice. The slot will be a 30 minute range, and they will be assigned in the order in which they are returned to me. I will return the time to you by phone or e-mail.
