Dear Parents and Students
In most cases, you have already signed a contract that stipulates which dates are mandatory performances. If you have not already signed a contract, then please return the bottom of this form, signing that you understand that those performances which are mandatory must be attended, or excused by Mr. Fennell or myself in advance, or the result will be the achieved grade for the quarter being lowered by 3 grade levels for the quarter in which the performance is missed. Other extra performances such as solo and ensemble and civic performances are used to boost the grade and earn points toward awards at the end of the year. The student grades are weighted with a balance of mandatory performances, teacher judgment (classroom effort/participation), extra-curricular performances, and daily attendance.

January IMEA All-State
March UICW Conference Music Festival - 7:00 PM Concert
February Fundraiser Pick-up day, Band room - Homeroom and after school until 5:00pm
February IGSMA 7-8th Grade Solo and Ensemble Contest -

Both of the following dates will usually occur over the Memorial Day weekend. 8th Grade promotion is usually on the Thursday evening, and the HS graduation will either be on the Saturday or Sunday.

I promise to fill in these undetermined dates with at least a month for you to plan around them.

I have read the list of dates, and understand that attendance is required at some of these events in order to earn a passing grade. I will abide by prescribed classroom rules with regard to effort, gum chewing, having materials for class, etc.
