Industrial Occupations 1000 Advanced Woodworking (ERVDS CT 0015) (Elective) (All Year Course) 303 This course is designed to give the student an opportunity to design and develop individual projects utilizing training gained in the introductory industrial occupation courses. Prerequisite - 1 year of Industrial Occupations and Junior Standing 1010 Building Maintenance (Elective) (All Year Course) 103 This course teaches skills necessary for a person desiring employment in a Building Maintenance position. Instruction will include: basic aspects of grounds keeping, masonry, woodworking, furnishing repair, basic maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, basic repair and maintenance of electrical systems, basic maintenance and repair of tools/equipment, floor care and the maintenance and cleaning of such, materials and supplies necessary for care and maintenance of buildings, and the budgeting and relations concepts of the individual in a working environment. Students will also be introduced to the use of computer technology and its value in monitoring the mechanical systems within a building. 1020 Intro. to Industrial and Related Occupations (ERVDS IE 0010) (Elective) (All Year Course) 103 Each student will be introduced to the following areas: Drafting, woodworking, basic electricity, basic welding and small engines. There will be minor projects required in all of the above areas. 1030 Metalworking Technology (ERVDS MR 0015) (Elective) (Semester Course) 213 Students will be introduced to some of the occupations in this field. They also will learn some of the basic techniques in working with metal. (Bench work). Each student will make a Hacksaw. In making the Hacksaw, student will learn how to: file, heat, bend, drill, rivet, saw and polish metal. Prerequisite - Introduction to Industrial Arts recommended 1040 Power Technology (ERVDS MR 0600) (Elective) (Semester Course) 213 Student will study the theory of the internal combustion engine. Each student will have the opportunity to overhaul a small engine, so as to help them understand how the engine works. Prerequisite - Introduction to Industrial Arts recommended 1050 Senior Woods (Elective) (All Year Course) 403 This course is designed to give the student the opportunity to continue advancing their skills in designing and constructing of a wood project. Prerequisites - Advanced Woods 1060 Welding Technology (ERVDS MR 0015) (Elective) (Semester Course) 213 Students will be taught the basics of arc welding and gas welding. Emphasis will be placed on procedure, types of metal, welding equipment and safety. Students will have five arc welds, and five gas welds to be turned in during the semester.
