Science 1400 Human Anatomy and Physiology (Elective) (All Year Course) 305 An introduction to human histological anatomy and physiology. The course emphasizes the morphology of all human systems. Prerequisite - Biology 1 with a C average 1410 Biology 1 (Elective) (All Year Course) 205 Introduction survey of plant and animal metabolism and physiology. Cytology, genetics, simple vertebrate zoology, biotic unity, diversity, and continuity are emphasized. Prerequisites - General Science 1420 Biology 2 (Elective) (All Year Course) 305 This class includes an expansion of selected topics in biology as well as new concepts not covered in Biology 1. There is an emphasis on laboratory performance, the scientific method and written laboratory reports. Prerequisites - Completion of Biology 1 with a recommended C average or better 1430 General Science (All Year Course) 103 This course is divided into two distinct areas of science. The first semester will emphasize topics such as the universe, stars, erosion, rocks, minerals, and weather. The second semester will emphasize physical science and will cover general chemistry and physics concepts. 1440 General Chemistry (Elective) (All Year Course) 203 This course is designed for juniors/seniors who have an interest in chemistry or who wish to take another science course. It is not for those who will need chemistry later. The thrust of the course is studying the chemistry of water, air, food, clothing. metals, and other substances though lab work. A majority of time spent in class is spent working on or discussing labs. 1450 Life Science (All Year Course) Required for students not in Biology 1) 203 This course is not a substitute for biology. It is a hands-on approach to the study of living things with an emphasis on cells, animals, plants, and ecology. Lab work includes dissections and basic microscope work. Prerequisite- Sophomore standing and General Science 1460 Physics (Elective) (All Year Course) 205 A course designed to acquaint junior/seniors with the physical world. Attempts to explain the reasons for motion, gravity, heat, light, and possible relativity. A requirement for science majors, engineers, and mathematicians. Lab work is done where applicable. College Prep degree of difficulty. Prerequisites - Algebra 1 1470 Preparatory Chemistry (Elective) (All Year Course) 305 This course is designed for those upperclassmen who are planning on furthering their education. it is a must for those entering the science field, nursing, technology or engineering.
