Mathematics 1100 Algebra 1/2 (Required for those who do not take Algebra 1) (All Year Course) 103 This course is designed to give a full year of practice in the fundamentals of arithmetic while basic abstractions of beginning algebra are introduced and practice. A basic study of Geometrical shapes, volume, area, and surface area are introduced. 1110 Algebra 1 ( Elective) (All Year Course) 103 An introductory course in mathematics studying the concepts of signed numbers, variables, exponents, factoring, and problem solving. A basic study of geometrical shapes, volume, area, and surface area. A must for those students who plan on studying science and math. Prerequisite - Algebra 1/2 1115 Algebra 1A (Elective) (All Year Course) 103 An introductory course in mathematics studying the concepts of signed numbers, variables, exponents, factoring, and problem solving. Prerequisite - Algebra 1A 1120 Algebra 2 (Elective) (All Year Course) 205 An extension of Algebra 1 - introducing sequences, polynomials, and polynomial functions. You become familiar with rational and imaginary numbers, exponents, and numerical calculations. Geometrical concepts covering volume, surface area, similar triangles, sectors, overlapping triangles, and right triangles. Prerequisites - Algebra 1 1130 Consumer Mathematics (Required) (Semester Course) 413 Consumer Education will include the following units of study: checking accounts and banking services, savings and investments, credit, insurance, consumer purchasing and income tax. Prerequisites - Senior standing 1140 Geom/Trig/Alg 3 (Elective) (All Year Course) 305 This course gives the foundations of geometry and the many skills necessary for more advanced math. First semester will have primary emphasis on the logical reasoning skills used in formal proofs. Second semester will provide a review of Algebra 1 & 2 concepts while advanced to higher level skills. Prerequisites - Algebra 2 1160 Senior Math (Elective) (All Year Course) 405 A course designed primarily for the exceptional math student, especially those planning on continuing in math or math-related areas in college. This course continues on from Geom/Trig/Alg 3 and provides the necessary skills for calculus. Prerequisites - Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geom/Trig/Alg 3 1170 Statistics (Elective) (Semester Course) 315 This course is designed to give students the essential elements of statistics. The presentations include interesting examples, experiments or activities, and collection and discussions of data that will lead to abstract concepts formulation. The topics discusses will be descriptive statistics, centers and spreads, expected values, probability, regression and correlation, and making statistical decisions. Prerequisites - Algebra 2 and Keyboarding 1175 Adv. Computer Applications (Elective Independent Study) ( Semester Course) 213 A course designed to include the study of presentation software (Microsoft PowerPoint), the use of desktop publishing (Adobe PageMaker) and creating web pages (Microsoft FrontPage). The hands-on approach provides practical experience for the student and will enable the student to use the computers in all other curricular areas. Credit from this class cannot be used to fulfill a mathematics credit requirement. Prerequisites - Consent of instructor 1180 Adv. Computer - Web Page Design (Elective Independent Study) (Semester Course) 213 A course designed to give students the essential elements in creating a web page. The students will use various software packages to get a complete web page of their choice. The hands-on approach provides practical experience for the student and will enable the student to use the computers in all other curricular areas. Credit from this class cannot be used to fulfill a mathematics credit requirement. Prerequisite - Algebra 1 & 2 and consent of instructor 1182 Adv. Computer - Graphic Design (Elective Independent Study) (Semester Course) 313 A course designed to include the study of photography software (Adobe Photoshop) and drawing software (Adobe Illustrator). The hands-on approach provides practical experience for the student and will enable the student to use the computers in all other curricular areas. Credit from this class cannot be used to fulfill a mathematics credit requirement. Prerequisite - Keyboarding, Art 1 and consent of instructor 1184 Math - Visual Basic (Elective Independent Study) (Semester Course) 315 A course designed to study the use of a programming language (Visual Basic). The student will learn the syntax with a visual interface and event-driven environment. The hands-on approach provides practical experience for the student and will enable the student to use the computers in all other curricular areas. Prerequisite - Keyboarding, Algebra 2 and consent of instructor 1186 Math - HTML (Elective Ind. Study) (Semester Course) 315 A course designed to give students the essential elements of programming web pages in HTML. The student will write the code that then displays a web page. The hands-on approach provides practical experience for the student and will enable the student to use the computers in all other curricular areas.
