Business Education
200 Accounting (ERVDS BE 0100)_ (Elective) (All Year Course) 203 (Sem 1) 205 (Sem 2)
Teaches students to plan, summarize, and analyze financial records for business and personal use. Supplementary materials used include student workbook for daily assignments and at least two practice sets which give students an opportunity to apply skills to simulate business. * Course weight changes to a 5 weight second semester.
Prerequisite - Sophomore standing
210 Keyboarding/Business Applications (ERVDS BE 0010, BE 0020) (Elective) (All Year Course) 103
Students will review the theory of keyboard and proper typing techniques. They will then learn how to utilize various computer programs: semester one will deal with Word, Power Point and FrontPage; Excell, Access, and InDesign wil be introduced second semester. The hands-on approach provides practical experience for the student and should enable the student to use the computers in all other curricular areas.
Students who earn a grade of C or better and go on to take an additional keyboarding class at the Area Vocational Center will receive college credit for keyboarding should they attend Highland Community College.
220 Model Office (ERVDS BE 0600) (Elective) (All Year Course) 203
Students will be instructed in the following facets common to all businesses: the use of electronic calculators, payroll, microcomputer data entry, record keeping, filing, marketing math, business communications, and business law. Practice sets will be used for each of the instructional areas.
