Warren’s PE Department Earns The Blue Ribbon Program Award from the State of Illinois!!!!!!

WARREN HIGH SCHOOL P.E. DEPARTMENT RECEIVES

BLUE RIBBON AWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Warren’s 9-12 Physical Education Program has been recognized as being exemplary in the State of Illinois. Warren Jr.-Sr. High is only one of nine schools for the year 2007 to receive the Blue Ribbon Program Award for outstanding Physical Education programs by the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. The recognition period for programs awarded Blue Ribbon status will be three years from the date of recognition. Since the criteria used to evaluate Warren’s program reflects the state and national professional standards and those of the Illinois State Board of Education, this school and staff will provide a model in the state for excellence and encouragement to all Illinois schools for program development.

Each award winning Blue Ribbon Program will be:

Ø Awarded a banner appropriate for hanging in the gymnasium or school

Ø Recognized at a school function by a representative of IAHPERD

Ø Recognized at the IAHPERD Convention

Ø Showcased at the IAPHERD Convention on November 15, 2007

Ø Invited to present a session at the 2008 IAPHERD Convention

Ø Forwarded to the appropriate person at the State Board of Education as a program for best practices.

This award is very exciting, not only because Warren’s PE Department met the criteria, but because historically they will be recognized in an elite group of schools and educators in the State of Illinois. This means Warren will help set the tone for the future of physical education in the state!

We are very, very proud of our program and would like to thank our Staff & Faculty, Administration, Board of Education and parents for their fantastic support and cooperation throughout the years and during our pursuit of this goal. Most importantly, thank you to all students in our PE and Strength Training classes. This achievement would not have been possible without your outstanding participation and effort, willingness to try new things, and great sportsmanship!
