GOAL:  To establish and teach Physical Education and Physical Fitness programs, which will enable students to become physically fit through many sports, weight conditioning, and activities.  Also, to provide aesthetic values, develop good sportsmanship, and proper mental attitudes.

ALL STUDENTS WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN THE WARREN PHYSICAL FITNESS ASSESSMENT THIS FALL & SPRING. This test consists of OneMile Run /Pacer Test, Push-ups, Pull-ups, Curl-ups, Vertical Jump and Sit and Reach.

All blocks begin with Fitness Plan Warm-ups.  REQUIRED:  Students will begin the jog for the designated minutes each block, up to ten minutes maximum; also push-ups, pull-ups, and Plyometrics will be required.  Students must participate or receive a grade of 0.

*****Beginning with the Freshman class of 2006-7, PE & Strength Training will be one full credit!!!*****

REGULATIONS:

*        Students are required to bring two pencils to PE per semester.

*        No gum or jewelry.

*        No profanity.

*        Students must remain IN THE GYM, NOT IN HALLWAYS, until bell rings.

*        Fighting in the locker rooms will result in a grade of 0.Poor behavior and disrespectfulness will result in a detention and a grade of 0.

*        Students will not be allowed to sit on the stage at any time.

*        “No Sitting Allowed in PE Class”  The only excused absence from PE is by a doctor’s written excuse. Students who do not dress for class receive a ‘0’ and will be required to walk the perimeter of the gym for the entire class period.  If a student is too ill to walk, he/she will be sent to the office to go home.   Two “no-dresses”  and/or  two “no-participations” in a nine-week period results in failure for the quarter.  Four of either in a nine-week period results in failure for the semester.  Detentions will be assigned for no-dresses or no-participations beyond failure.

DRESS REQUIREMENTS:  Regulation PE uniform and tennis shoes (preferably worn only for PE).  Sweat suits will ONLY be allowed to be worn outdoors. Uniforms that have been intentionally torn will be considered a no-dress; this includes shirts that have had sleeves ripped off.    Uniforms than have been stolen must be replaced within ten days.

GRADING CRITERIA:

40% Participation, attitude, cooperative behavior, sportsmanship, effort!

30% Skills Testing- test with each unit-Fitness Center Program progression tests.

30% Written Work-written test/quiz over each unit; quarterly writing assignments.

      

NEW THIS YEAR:          

*        Accountability: Homework- One missing assignment allowed per quarter- detentions will be assigned for all other missing assignments and 0’s will be given.  NO LATE WORK ACCEPTED!

*        Internet Driver’s License- required for all Physical Education classes.

*        Limited Participation Form-If your son or daughter is to have limited PE due to injury or illness-please have your doctor fill out this form.  Additional forms may be obtained from the PE Teachers or school office. 

 

        Two Semester Exams required per year if WPFA

requirements are not met (High School  classes).
